Equestrian Team | The QMS Equestrian Team will complete in the spring. Check back for more details. |
Geography Bee | The National Geographic Bee consists of students answering oral questions until one winner is determined. This winner advances to the next level of competition, a written examination. The top 100 school level winners will advance to state level and compete to see who will advance to the National Championship. |
Mathcounts | Quincy Middle School participates in the regional Mathcounts competition held in Kalamazoo. These students attended practice after school to prepare for the competition which consists of a timed individual test, a problem solving round, a team round, and a countdown round. |
Michigan Youth in Government | (a YMCA program) has operated at the high school level for the past 57 years. The program is new at the middle school level. The purpose of Youth in Government is to teach democracy, civic responsibility, and leadership to students through hands-on conferences held in Lansing. Participants learn how to write legislative bills, practice parliamentary procedure, develop debate skills, etc |
Quiz Bowl | In November students from the middle school participate in the annual Quiz Bowl competition. This tournament tests students’ problem solving and reasoning skills as well as their general knowledge of current events, literature, science, geography, English, history, the arts and mathematics. The team approach to the event allows more of our students to participate. |
Science Olympiad | The fifth and sixth grade Science Olympiad is held in the spring at Bronson High School. Students will be competing in events such as egg drop, name that scientist, tennis ball catapult, and paddle boat races. Practice session take place a month before the contest which will |
Student Council | The Quincy Middle School student council meets monthly. It is responsible for organizing the dances as well as planning activities. The student council also encourages students to be good citizens by helping to raise money for the food pantry. |
Yearbook | Yearbook sign-up will be in the fall. All middle school students are invited to apply. It involves once a week meeting October through February. |
QMS Robotics | 7th and 8th grade students compete in the First Robotics FTC Competition each December. Practices begin in October. |
