The QMS Peer-to-Peer Team worked hard during their lunchtime today to put out some positive words of encouragement for our 8th graders, as they'll be taking the PSAT on Tuesday. We love the uplifting messages!

Quincy Softball Splits at Marshall Sports Festival Quincy started the morning facing off with the host team to begin the tournament. Marshall jumped on top early with 4 runs in the bottom of the first taking advantage of a few walks and a fielding error along with a couple timely hits. Quincy tightened up defensively to keep the score within reach but the Redhawks pulled away with a big 3 run homerun in the 4th and then 3 more in the 5th to take the game 11-1. Miley Poindexter kept up her hot hitting with a single and triple. Deziray Skirka singled twice plating Miley for Quincy’s lone run. Shaylee Cope also singled. Hannah Brown pitched well in the loss giving up 6 earned runs while striking out 4 in 4 innings of work. In the consolation bracket, the Orioles took on Haslett who lost earlier in the day to Loy Norrix. Danika Skirka pitched a gem in a 13-0 victory. Danika walked 3, struck out 2 and allowed just one hit while having to face just 13 batters; one more than the minimum. Makiya Feltner helped keep Haslett off the bases by throwing out all 3 runners attempting to steal. Makiya also lead the Orioles offense with 3 hits and knocking in 3 runs. Shaylee Cope went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Deziray Skirka singled twice and scored 4 times. Cali Richards collected 2 hits and Taylor Lewis added a single. Quincy’s record now stands at 5-3 The Orioles will finally get their home opener as Quincy hosts Springport in Big 8 action on Tuesday

Quincy spilts DH with Hudson win 3 of 4 on the weekend Oriole Sophomore Cobee Stevens came on in relief and struck out the final batter with a runner at 3rd base to help the Orioles earn a split with the visiting Hudson Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Stevens who also pitched an inning in the 1st game of the DH was called back to duty in game 2 and worked the Orioles out of a jam in the 6th Inning before earning the save in the 7th. Jimmy Maynard started game 2 and was sharp through 4 innings to record the win The Orioles won game 2 11-10 taking advantage of 10 Tiger walks and 9 Oriole hits in the game. Ryan Kempter, led the Orioles at the plate with 2 hits and 3 runs scored. Mason Graves and Alex Barry also had 2 hits and 3 rbi. Barry had a bases loaded 2b hit to score 3 runs and give the Orioles some breathing room. Maynard and Zac Rubley added singles. Brennen Allman walked 4 times in the game and tallied two runs. In Game 1 the Orioles could not recover from some early shoddy defense and fell to the Tigers 7-1. Kempter, and Christian Craven, and Stevens pitched for the Orioles who recorded just 3 hits all singles by Kempter, Graves and Maynard. The Orioles won 3 of 4 on the weekend and look forward to hosting Big 8 Conference foe Springport on Tuesday.

Girls soccer braved the cold and traveled to Calhoun Christian last night. They were able to come away with a shutout victory. Final score was 3-0. Kenzi Maynard was the first to put the ball in the back of the net right after half time after receiving a cross from Laura Bostic. Only 3 minutes later Delylah Cruz scored off another cross from Laura Bostic to put Quincy up 2-0. Laura Bostic was able to seal the game scoring off a penalty shot with only 5 minutes left. Goalie Danica Swift had 5 saves on the night. The defense was on point tonight keeping Calhoun Christian scoreless. The girls will be back at home Friday to take on Lenawee Christian. Tonight's win puts the girls record 5-1.

An update from Mr. Miller's 6th grade science class: ESCAPE THE STORM Status: NO ONE ESCAPED. That’s right—15 puzzles, thunder crashing, brains buzzing... and not a single student made it out before the fictional storm hit. The room? Still intact. The students? Slightly frazzled, highly motivated. The storm? Just chilling, waiting to strike again. (Apparently in the form of SNOWFLAKES this evening!)
