5th graders celebrated Earth Day this afternoon. Together we were able to gather 3 large bags of trash. After two mornings of MSTEP testing the students were able to enjoy the beautiful day and rest their brains after their hard work. The teachers and staff are very thankful for their commitment to a growth and community mindset.

"The Warhammer Alliance Club kicked off to a great start, introducing students to the world of Warhammer and tabletop miniatures! Students put their skills to the test building a Space Marine and Necron Warrior. They looked over various painting schemes to get an idea for next week's goal: painting! Stay tuned for further progress and pictures of the results!"

Weekly Update with Dale and Mr. Suever
Good things in 5th grade science! This week the science class introduced a tank of tadpoles into the classroom. Students are currently learning about ecosystems and this is a great way to incorporate a part of Michigan's ecosystem into our learning. Some of our tadpoles have been named (although we are unsure how to which one is actually Bob the next day). Students have asked so many great questions about tadpoles and frogs. They will continue to observe and learn about these incredible amphibians as we finish the school year.

The 5th grade Pokemon club kicked off on Tuesday, beginning these students' long journey to become Pokemon masters! We started our journey by checking out the very first episode of the show which premiered in 1997! They will soon be building their own decks and battling it out with friends during our new lunch time club!

The QMS Peer-to-Peer Team worked hard during their lunchtime today to put out some positive words of encouragement for our 8th graders, as they'll be taking the PSAT on Tuesday. We love the uplifting messages!

Mr. Suever and Dale with this week's update
An update from Mr. Miller's 6th grade science class: ESCAPE THE STORM Status: NO ONE ESCAPED. That’s right—15 puzzles, thunder crashing, brains buzzing... and not a single student made it out before the fictional storm hit. The room? Still intact. The students? Slightly frazzled, highly motivated. The storm? Just chilling, waiting to strike again. (Apparently in the form of SNOWFLAKES this evening!)

Today, Mr. Miller’s students found themselves trapped in a high-stakes science showdown! 🌪️🧠 They had to solve 15 weather-themed puzzles to "escape" before a fictional storm locked them in forever (or at least until the bell rang). 😱 Good news: the storm was kind enough to hit the pause button ⏸️—it won't officially "lock them in" until Monday. So they have the weekend to study... or maybe just nervously check the forecast. 😉 Stay tuned for updates from Escape the Storm: Part 2 coming Monday!

It's been a busy couple of days to end the week at QMS. Thank you to all of our families that came in for conferences and visited the book fair! We celebrated National Oreo Day and were blessed with dinner from our friends at Sunset Cove (which definitely helped with the long day). Today, kids got to enjoy reading and popcorn. Thank you, Mrs. Pearson, for scooping hundreds of bags of popcorn!
